We are dreamers. When Scott and I met, we talked about all the things we wanted to do, and I think that is one of the ways we fell in love. We are both adventure seeking, albeit in different ways. He is the camper, the hiker, the outdoorsman; I am the traveler, the artist, and the soul-searcher. I am a list maker, he is a task-doer. We work well together because of how we complement each other. I wanted to find someone to share adventure with, to show the painting to, and to sink into foreign communities and culture with. He wanted someone to share a tent with, to climb a mountain with. We both wanted a best friend to go through life with, to share with. In our proposal, we were talking about bucket lists. We were discussing all the things that we wanted to do in life, all the things that were tugging at our soul to get done. He proposed that he wanted someone to share his bucket list to and to complete his bucket list with. And the first thing on his bucket list was to marry me : )
One of the biggest things on our list is to build a home and a studio on the Brown family land. Originally, he moved back home to plant his roots back where he started. In the process, his dream became my dream. Heirloom and the Bird will be the name of our farm. Heirloom, something that is owned and valuable, passed through generations, and Bird because of that sweet bird dog, Sudie. We have lots of dreams for our sweet little farm: heirloom variety plants, goats, chickens, pigs. Little niche farming and maybe some soap making. We both know that we want to be creative, we want to get back in the dirt, and we want to do it together.
Heirloom and the Bird is the name of the farm, but it also represents so much more. It is a culmination of our dreams, our desires, our hopes, our creative endeavors, and how we end up doing it together.
